Why do you have to go to Africa? Why not stay in America?
This is one of the questions that we get a lot. One one hand, I think it’s the wrong question. For one reason, because Brian and I have been serving in full time ministry in America for our entire marriage, and as volunteers long before that. So we have been doing just that! I believe that question also overlooks the specific call of God and His ability to lead you as He chooses. For us, He has very clearly asked us to invest in Uganda. He has given us a love and a connection there that we can not deny. In many ways, we can see that we are even created to fit that culture.
On the other hand, I can also see the heart behind the question. There is a desire to see things change here in America. There is a desire to see the hand of God move in people’s heart here and revival to break out. People have a desire for “all hands on deck” in our own homeland for restoration. We also echo that heartbeat! We long for a global reconnection to Jesus Christ, not just in America. The need is worldwide. The Kingdom of God is worldwide.
There is a song that has been playing on the radio that we have adopted. The Lord has used this song to minister to our heart and encourage us to move forward, not only in spending this time in Uganda, but doing it now.
I love the message of this song! I love this video! Not everyone is called to take their family overseas. Not every family is called to full time ministry. But we are all called to do something! We are all asked to serve, in many different ways, in many different places. What does the Lord want you to do? I pray that our steps of faith will be an encouragement to you to step out in radical faith.
Update for the trip:
